So the March 2020 Grand Sumo Tournament, taking place from Sunday, March 8th to March 22nd, will take place in an empty Edion Arena in Osaka, with no fans being allowed in to watch and cheer.
While this option is far from ideal, in light of the seriousness of the Corona virus threat in Japan, it seems like the best available option and we sumo fans will still get to watch the basho, if only from our TVs and YouTube.
Let’s hope we still have a fun and entertaining tournament with lots of great matches.
